Description |

| One
day touring the highlights of charming Sapa town and exploring
its nearby tribal villages, two days on saddle to conquer
Vietnam’s highest mountain pass, this trip is truly
for cycle lovers . Following the motor way the first day
and getting off the beaten track for the way back, your
wheels will make a loop around the two large valley: Binh
Lu and Tam Duong on Fansipan’s westside which boasts
imposing scene of Hoang Lien Son Range as well as stunning
landscapes of the mountainous plateau featuring with mountain
back drops, green tea plantaitons and rice fields which
surround villages of the Black Zao, Red H’mong and
Lu ethnic peoples. The trip is also a perfect alternation
for other trips in months of bad weather in Sapa. |

ITINERARY |

Night
1: Take overnight train from
Hanoi to Lao Cai
Please, be ready at your hotel lobby at 20.00 for a short
transfer to Hanoi railways station for taking the overnight
train (first class 4 beds cabin with air-condition) which
arrive in Lao Cai city, near the Chinese border next morning. |

Town’s Highlights and Ta Phin Village |

Meet
your Sapa guide and driver upon your arrival and transfer
uphill the Hoang Lien Son mountains to Sa Pa. Great views
of valleys and terraced rice fields along the way.
After Breakfast, your guide will show you around for a
brief introduction of this charming town. At the market,
ethnic minority people of different groups wearing their
traditional costumes made by themselves comes every day
selling local products includes vegetable, bamboo shoot,
mushroom, medicinal herbs and souvenirs…there are
chances to get intact and taking photos. Afterwards you
will follow the footsteps uphill to the top of Ham Rong
Mountain for over viewing beautiful scenery of the town
and surrounding area, paying visit to an orchard garden
and a mini museum which tells you a lot about ethnic minority
people living in Sa Pa and the northwest region.
After Lunch, transfer 14km to the center of Ta Phin valley,
then you will enjoy an easy walk following village path,
paying visit to some H’mong hamlets scattering from
the bottom of the valley to higher mountain slopes. From
high elevation, great view of the valley stretching under
your foot. Continue your walk to the Red Zao village in
which you will meet groups of women making handicrafts
includes embroidered clothes, handbags… Transfer
back to Sa Pa in late afternoon and the rest hours is
at your leisure. |

2 // Cycle

Commencing
the trip from Sapa, you will cycle uphill, passing green
chayote farms on the bamboo frames and rose gardens which
cover the mountain slops for over 10km. First long break
at the famous Silver Waterfall to enjoy magnificent scenery
and overview spectacular valley. Continue cycling uphill
few kilometres further to the top of Tram Ton Pass, the
highest mountain pass in Vietnam at 1,800m above sea level.
From here stunning views of the valley stretches in your
sight and the road downhill winds its way as a thin string
on the hillsides. 18km cycling downhill with lots of fun
and many stops for photos and you will arrive to a Red
H’mong village of Chu Va at the foot of Hoang Lien
near a clear stream of water, where you can enjoy Lunch
break and swim in the river as well. After Lunch and taking
a short walk around the village, you will continue cycle
descending to Binh Lu where another stop to visit the
market here. Afterwards, a two hours leisurely cycle to
explore this lush valley, paying visit to the Lu and Zao
Tien villages.
You will continue cycling uphill 15km of the Hong Thu
Man mountain range and when arriving at the top the great
view of Tam Duong Valley which is surrounded by impressive
mountain back drops with green tea plantations and terraced
rice paddies. Arriving in Ban Hon Village of the Lu peoples,
beautifully set on a bank of a river, taking shower or
if you like swimming in the river and free walk to explore
the village. |

After
Breakfast, It is really nice to attend the market here
for about an hour where you can meet many local ethnic
peoples in their traditional costumes such as the Red
H’mong, Black Zao, Zao with coins, Lu, Lao…
Leaving Tam Duong at about 09.00 Am you will get off the
main road and follow a dirt road for a bout 45km off the
beaten track. There is more fun along the way while you
cycle through this quiet and peaceful region and paying
visit to the Lu and Black Zao villages along the way.
A late
Lunch will be prepare in a village near Binh Lu town and
along break by the side of the river again for recharging
energy before cycling up hill the Hoang Lien Son range
again.
The way uphill is as far as 40km and very steep, so it
is flexible for you to cycle as far as you wish, other
while vehicle will carry the bikes and you will relax
and enjoy landscape from the jeep or van. Getting to Lao
Cao Station late in the afternoon, you have time for a
quick shower and Dinner on your own before boarding the
overnight train for Hanoi. Trip ends early next morning
as you arrive in Hanoi. |
